Red Flags Rule - Identity Theft Prevention
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has issued a set of regulations in relation to identity theft prevention, known as the Red Flags Rule, which will be effective as of November 1, 2009. As such, Brigid Maloney has written a Red Flags policy to be followed by the Practice Plans. In addition, the Compliance Office has created a powerpoint presentation to help train staff on the new policies and procedures
While it is required that all practice plan boards of directors adopt the new policies (preferably at their next meetings), it is important that the practice plans begin implementing the policies and procedures on or before November 1, 2009, even if the individual boards have not yet officially adopted them.
